The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS), in collaboration with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the World Bank, conducted a beta test of GeoAnalyticsPH (GAPH) for the Harmonized Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) and Ecological Profile, a project under PlanSmart for Sustainable Human Settlements, at the Park Inn Radisson, North Edsa, on November 25-26, 2024. Designed to strategically serve as the foundation for other planning tools, including PlanSmart for Sustainable Human Settlements, GAPH is envisioned to support comprehensive planning and decision-making processes. The GeoAnalyticsPH platform is at the forefront of innovation in addressing the challenges faced by local government units (LGUs) in formulating Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CLUPs). Historically, the lack of accessible data and technical capacity have hindered the LGUs from efficiently conducting climate and disaster risk assessments (CDRA) and from generating ecological profiles—key components for sustainable land use planning. This beta testing event marked a significant step in resolving these issues, showcasing the platform's advanced capabilities to automate these essential processes. The insights and feedback gathered during the event will play a crucial role in refining the platform, ensuring it is ready for broader implementation and capable of delivering on its promise to help transform land use planning.
